Mr. Walter Guy Oakes, Jr. of South Boston, Virginia died Monday, April 27, 2015 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County, Virginia, October 15, 1939 and was 75 years of age. He was the son of the late Walter Guy Oakes, Sr. and Grace Woody Oakes . He was a retired used car saleman and attended the South Boston Church of God. Survivors include: One Sister Martha Jane Oakes Gunn of Chester, VA Three Nieces Judy Gunn Hues & husband Clint of Quinton, VA Janet Gunn Walters & and husband Bill of Quinton, VA Susan Gunn Engel & husband Wayne of North Port, Florida Special Friends Buck and Marie Tatum of Scottsburg, VA Billy Slagle of South Boston, VA Funeral Services for Mr. Walter Guy Oakes, Jr. will be held at the South Boston Church of God, Wednesday, April 29. 2015 at 4:00 P. M. with the Rev. T. Wayne Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherry Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
