Amanda "Mandy" Elizabeth Glasscock Flowers, beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, claimed her promise of eternal life on June 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven from the love and dedication she showed throughout her life.
Mandy was born on July 15, 1979 and was known for her passionate spirit, an outgoing personality that lit up every room she entered, and her unwavering commitment to her career and community. She loved her students, painting, cooking, music, living the “Jeep life” and her furry companions Rex and Bell.
As a teacher with the Halifax County School System, Mandy’s empathy and understanding of her students was evident in her every interaction. With typical Mandy fashion, she couldn’t limit herself to just teaching. She coached the cheerleading team, served as an SCA advisor, planned the prom, and created a prom dress closet. She took tremendous pride in her students when they passed certifications. Mandy was the kind of teacher who lent a caring ear to any student who needed extra attention. When she saw a need, she tried to figure out a way to fill it.
Mandy is survived by her devoted husband, Andrew "Andy" Flowers, and her beloved son, Park Alton Dodd V, whose laughter was a source of light in her life. She is also survived by her loving parents, Mark Reid and Ann Wilborn Glasscock, who instilled in her the values of hard work, kindness, and community service; her beloved sister Christy Glasscock Newton, her husband Keith; two nephews, Christian and Lukas Newton.
Mandy's family and friends will gather to pay tribute to her life and the joy she brought to so many. A visitation will take place on June 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM and following the service in the church fellowship hall at the North Fork Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at the same location starting at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Norman Talley officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
For memorials, please consider the Halifax County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 1891, Halifax, VA 24558 or the BreakthroughT1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) https://www.breakthrought1d.org/.
In the hearts of those who knew and loved her, Mandy’s spirit will continue to shine brightly. She leaves behind cherished memories, laughter, warmth, and a model of selfless service that will inspire generations to come. As we remember Mandy, let us carry forward her legacy of compassion, hard work, and unwavering love for others.
