Listen to Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Andrew “Andy” Carlton Ferrell of Suffolk, VA on July 4, 2026. He was born in Halifax County, VA on January 11, 1958 and was 68 years of age. He was the son of the late Lenwood Grove Ferrell and Shirley Church Ferrell.

Andy will be remembered as a man of unwavering faith, remarkable perseverance, a youthful spirit at heart, and a deep love for the people who mattered most to him. He cherished his parents and was a loyal friend whose kindness and genuine spirit touched countless lives. Andy had a life long appreciation for antiques, automobiles including restoring older classic cars, and always enjoyed being near the water, going to Ocracoke Island, or in a kayak on the river.

Despite the tremendous challenges he faced after complications from diabetes which led to the loss of both legs, Andy refused to let adversity define him. His determination, resilience, and positive outlook inspired everyone who knew him. Even after his amputations, he continued to excel professionally, earning President’s Club and Mid-Atlantic Regional Sales Person of the Year awards at TruGreen — a testament to his work ethic, character, and refusal to give up.

Andy passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2026 from a massive heart attack after spending the day with family. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his legacy of faith, courage, perseverance, and love for family and friends will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Andy is survived by: many family members including aunts, numerous cousins and friends, he was preceded in death by his father Lenwood G. Ferrell and mother Shirley Church Ferrell.
