Annie Bell Benjamin Hayes, 80 years old, of Semora, North Carolina passed away in death on February 15, 2026. She was born in Mecklenburg County Virginia on August 18, 1945 to the late James and Tuttie Alva Jones Benjamin. Annie was one of 8 children and attended school in Mecklenburg County Virginia.
For 29 years, Annie was employed at Russell Stover Candies, in Clarksville VA. She later worked briefly at Person County Hospital, in Roxboro, NC for a few short years thereafter.
Sister Hayes was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 24, 2002, while in the Roxboro Congregation. She later settled in Semora, NC and attended the congregation there until her death. Annie loved talking to others about her future hope of everlasting life on earth. She would often give her family wise encouragement from the things she learned from the Bible. Annie loved Jehovah her God to the end with all her heart and soul.
Annie was always a hard worker and was excellent at fixing and repairing just about anything. For example, she could change a clutch on a vehicle or even the brakes. She enjoyed working in the yard, fishing and cooking and she had a great love for animals, especially her dogs.
An excellent mother and grandmother, Annie loved her family very much. She loved with her whole heart and always gave without ever expecting anything in return. Her arms were always open, and her love was the safest place we have ever known. Momma didn’t just raise a family; she built a legacy of love among her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Shirley Jordan (Andre) of Halifax,VA, Bernard Hayes (Michelle) of Roxboro, NC, Bobby Hayes (Shirley) of South Boston, VA, and Lisa Hayes of Semora, NC; seven grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; siblings, Lowell J. “Bubba” Benjamin of Williamsburg, VA, Mary Ann Davis of Louisburg, NC, and Tuttie Smith of Maryland; host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Hayes; siblings, Elenora Revis, Winnie White, Monroe Benjamin and Jerry Benjamin.
A memorial service will be held on February 28, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Semora, NC, address: 1488 NC-62, Blanch, NC 27212.
