Annie Elizabeth Burton Snead of Scottsburg passed away February 9, 2026, at the age of 101. She was born to the late Jesse Thomas Burton and Hattie Childress Burton, and was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Kenneth Earl Snead.
Annie lived a long, full life in Halifax County as a devoted, loving mother and grandmother. She and her husband operated a tobacco farm for most of her life, was a talented seamstress, enjoyed tending to her flowers her entire life, and her Friday morning social time at Rose Lane’s beauty shop. Annie was known for her cooking, Christmas fruitcakes, and will forever be remembered for her kind and loving heart.
Annie is survived by her children: Maxine Snead Alls of Columbia, S.C, K. R. (Ronnie) Snead (Sue) of Scottsburg, and Kenneth L. Snead (Mona) of Sutherlin; six grandchildren: Traci Alls Dove, Tasha Snead Griffin, Staci Alls , Kenneth (Kenny) Lee Snead, Korey R. Snead, Klinton S. Snead; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her siblings Thomas Burton (Janice), Hattie Leah Burton Pucket, Jackie Burton Conner, Gilma Burton Shand; and her very close friends: Barbara Allen Scott and Jimmy Allen.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth Earl Snead; her siblings: Jessie Burton, Alfred Burton, Norman Burton, Grace Burton Talbot, Ola Mae Burton Heck, and Emma Burton Powell.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13th, 2026, at 4:00p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the visitation an hour before, starting at 3:00 p.m.
