Betty "BJ" Jean Moore Compton

Betty Jean “BJ” Moore Compton of South Boston, VA passed away March 8, 2023. She was born on August 24, 1944 to Louis “Papa” Moore and Elsie L. Moore. She was married to Robert “Bob” Compton who survives. Betty Jean “BJ” M. Compton was a lifelong member of Berry Hill Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, Bible School director and choir member. She loved her Lord, her church, and her church family. “BJ” was a bookkeeper working for VEPCO, Daystrom, and E.J. Wyatt Chevrolet before retiring from Halifax County Public Schools. Upon retirement she enjoyed playing golf and served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Halifax County Ladies Association for 18 years and as a volunteer for 21 years for Good Samaritan serving on the Board of Directors. Reed Edwards (Leigh), Charles “Chad” Edwards (Keely) Special Nieces Maelyn Edwards and Eloise Edwards Step-grandsons Sean and Travis Carroll ***Preceded in death by*** Two Brothers Carroll Moore (Sophia) and Louis E. “Gooney” Moore A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home with the Rev.
