Carolyn Faye Massengill Lovelace

Carolyn Faye Massengill Lovelace of South Boston passed away on October 13, 2026 at the age of 90. She was born in Smithfield, NC on August 12, 1936 to the late Hubert Graham Massengill and the late Melba Lou Harrison Massengill. She was married to the late Thomas Skinner Lovelace.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Carolyn was a lifelong lover of music and shared the love of it by teaching music as well as English with the Halifax County Public School System. She touched the lives of many Halifax County students.

Left to cherish her memory her son, Charles Thomas “Tommy” Lovelace of Roanoke Rapids, NC; three grandchildren, Charles Branch Lovelace (Sarah) of Seattle, WA, Matthew Lovelace (Monica) of San Deigo, CA and James Lovelace (Symphony) of Vista, CA; six great grandchildren; one sister, Frances Braswell of Raleigh, NC.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. John McCarthy officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at her home.
