Carolyn Smith Phillips

Mrs. Carolyn Smith Phillips of Halifax, VA passed away on August 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Halifax County on September 30, 1949, to the late Henry Smith and the late Geneva Falls Dalton. Carolyn was married to the late Samuel Godfrey Phillips.

Carolyn was a dedicated professional working many years as a paralegal under Judge Cunningham and later in real estate. She approached her work with integrity and genuine care for others. Above all Carolyn deeply loved her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose life reflected her strong Christian faith. Mrs. Phillips was a member and actively involved with South Boston Church of God, and she was a charter member with Halifax Baptist Church.

A funeral service will held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Halifax Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Collins officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the family’s home (1198 Crawford Rd. Halifax, VA 24558).
