Charles Clayborn Edwards III “Chad”, of Charlotte NC, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Chad was born on July 22, 1974 in South Boston VA to Charles C. and Judy M. Edwards and was married to Keely Monroe Edwards.
After graduating from Halifax County High School, Chad continued his education, graduating cum laude from the College of William Mary in 1996. He received a BS in Business Administration majoring in finance and received the Wall Street Journal Award for top finance student and was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. Chad interned for J.P. Morgan & Co. in New York and accepted a position as an analyst for Bank of America Securities in Charlotte, NC after graduation.
Chad continued his education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill receiving a Master of Business Administration and was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. After serving a summer internship with Lehman Brothers Inc. in New York, he accepted a position and was promoted to vice-president in global leveraged finance. It was during this time that his life was impacted by the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Chad accepted a position with Wells Fargo Securities serving as managing director of leveraged finance and relocated to Charlotte.
Chad was a life-long member of Berry Hill Presbyterian Church in South Boston and attended Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. He was an active member of the William & Mary and UNC Alumni Associations. Chad was an avid sports fan, lover of sports trivia, and enthusiastically supported the Atlanta Braves and UNC Tarheels.
Chad is survived by his wife, Keely, and their daughter, Kathryn Eloise; his parents Charles and Judy Edwards; his brother Reed Edwards (Leigh); niece Maelyn Edwards, and cousins Leslie Bohanon, Lonnie Moore, Ronnie Moore, and Bruce Kidd.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 10, at 2:00 at Berry Hill Presbyterian Church in South Boston VA.
