Claude Covington Roark, Jr.

Claude Covington Roark, Jr. passed away on December 15, 2023, at the age of 81. He was born on December 12, 1942, in Halifax County, VA, to the late Claude C. Roark, Sr. and the late Lizzie Tuck Roark.  He was married to Gayle Compton Roark who survives.

Claude was a member of First Baptist Church of Millstone, where he served as Deacon and many other roles within the church.  He loved singing and was in a gospel group called “The Searchers”.  He dedicated a significant portion of his life to the banking industry. As a retired banker, he exemplified professionalism and integrity in his work.  To his loved ones and friends, Claude will always be remembered as a faithful Christian and a devoted family man.  Junior was also known of his love of animals and always had his beloved dogs nearby.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Millstone with the Rev. Barry Fero officiating. Burial to follow at First Baptist Church of Millstone Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 18, 2023 from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home.
