Daryl Lee Harris

Daryl Lee Harris,79, of Halifax, passed away April 17, 2026 surrounded by family.  A devoted family man, Daryl was born December 19, 1946 to Mary Alice and James "Jiggs" Harris.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan, of 53 years. His beloved daughters Elizabeth Ricker, Jennifer Clark (Kenny), and Katharine Justus (Scott); eight dearly loved grandchildren Sonya, Harrison, Benjamin, Olivia, Connor, K.C., Riley, and Carter. They were the light of his life.

He is also survived by his brother Mark Harris (Diane) and two sisters-in-laws, Cynthia Harris and JoAnn Harris, Uncle Harold Harris (Diane), cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Daryl grew up in Brosville, Virginia. He went to school first grade through twelfth grade at the same small county school. He then went onto Danville Community College and later earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Averett College. Daryl's work ethic was unmatched. He worked for 45 years at Westinghouse and ABB. Besides work, Daryl could fix anything from cars to carpentry. He loved working in the yard.

Daryl was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church, whose members never forgot him through his illness. Daryl was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jerry Harris, Jimmy Harris, and Ricky Harris. The family thanks the wonderful care given by his hospice nurse Kelly Smithnosky.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
