David Douglas Irby

David Douglas Irby of Halifax passed away on August 2, 2026 at the age of 61. He was born in Halifax County on October 10, 1964 to the late Betty Conner and William Irby who survives.

David proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a man of many enjoyments; he wrote poetry, listened to music, watched TV, loved a great conversation, but especially treasured his dogs, Smoky and Peanut.

Left to cherish his memory are his father, William Irby (Brenda) of South Boston; his sons, Evan Irby (Jasmin) of South Boston, and David Irby “DJ” (Skylar) of South Boston; siblings, Amy Conner of South Boston, Diane Conner of Clarksville, VA, Russell Irby (Mercy) of Kansas, Robert Irby of South Boston; host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
