Deborah Thaxton Covington

Deborah Thaxton “Debbie” Covington of Clarksville, VA passed away on February 3, 2026 at the age of 75. She was born in Halifax County on November 6, 1950 to Elizabeth Norman Thaxton who survives and the late Thomas Jefferson Thaxton, Sr. She was married to the late Thomas Kent Covington, Jr.

She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Debbie enjoyed reading, watching old westerns and loved her dogs but especially loved seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Christy Covington Elliott (Bane) of Nelson, and Laura Elizabeth Covington (Lynn) of Oxford, NC, and Mark Anthony Covington of Oxford, NC; grandchildren, Megan Shonyo, Matthew Elliott, Haley Elliott; five great grandchildren; her mother, Elizabeth N. Thaxton; siblings, Libby Thaxton Vaughan (James) and Thomas Jefferson Thaxton, Jr (Norma Jean); life-long friend, Brenda Conner and her furry companions, Abby, Lola and Sheena

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
