Dora "Frances" Lovelace Satterfield

Dora “Frances” Lovelace Satterfield of Halifax, VA passed away June 27, 2020.  She was born in Halifax County, VA on March 21, 1930 and was 90 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Charlie James Lovelace and the late Sallie Jane Francisco Lovelace. She was married to Joe Cephus Satterfield, Jr who survives.

Frances taught in the Halifax County school system for 37 years. Once she retired, she still wanted to be active so she and Joe volunteered at the South Boston/Halifax County Museum and in the Wilson Memorial Ruritan Club serving in many positions. She started playing the piano when she was 12 at Mount Zion Church.  She loved her Pleasant Grove Christian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, choir director, and the pianist for many years. Frances loved to help in any way she could and was always looking for ways to be active.  She and Joe always enjoyed their breakfast with their Hardees’ Family. She really loved: running into her former students, Virginia Tech, watching all sports, baking for her family and friends, and gardening. She will always be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, friend and lover of life.
