Dorothy Fulwiler Newkirk

Dorothy Jane Fulwiler Newkirk of South Boston passed away on September 16, 2025 at the blessed age of 90. She was born in Lynchburg, VA on May 20, 1935 to the late Harry Fulwiler and the late Alice Barnes Fulwiler. She was married to the late Daniel Frank Newkirk.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughter of the Confederacy and served as Treasurer of Halifax County Republican Committee. Dorothy enjoyed embroidering, crocheting and spending time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her four children, Diane Milstead (David) of Radford, VA, Kathy Austin (Greg) of Chaptico, MD, Daniel Newkirk, Jr. (Joanne) of Lusby, MD and Donald Alex Newkirk of South Boston; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; siblings, Harry Fulwiler, III (Jennie) of Gainesville, VA, Barbara J. Woods of Hitchcock, TX, and Virginia Carey (Richard) of Haymarket, VA

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church and immediately following the service at the church.
