Dorothy Giles Watts

Dorothy Giles Watts of Cluster Springs peacefully passed away January 26, 2024 at the age of 94.  She was the youngest of eleven children born to Jessie Wilmer Giles and Louella Chaney Giles in Halifax County on May 5, 1929.  On November 29, 1952 she married Ira Wesley Watts and was married for 54 years before his passing in 2006.

 

She was a faithful member of Black Walnut Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher until her declining health prevented attendance, she also served as church librarian, WMU member and a choir member.  Dorothy worked at J.J. Newberry’s for forty plus years.  She also found much enjoyment in gardening and reading.

A Funeral service will be held Monday, January 29, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vance Midgett officiating.  Burial to follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens

 

The family will receive friends on Monday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
