Edith Snead Francis

Edith Snead Francis, a beloved mother and wife and devoted homemaker, passed peacefully on December 10, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on November 30, 1935, in Halifax County, Virginia, Edith was a lifelong member of Fork Baptist Church, where she attended regularly until her declining health.

She touched the lives of many with her generous spirit and creative talents, particularly in her love for sewing. Her ability to craft and share her creations brought joy to her family and friends, leaving a legacy of warmth and creativity that will be fondly remembered.

 Edith is survived by her children, Ellis Hagood Francis, Jr. and wife Alma of Dinwiddie; Patricia Francis Gordon of Clarksville; Jane Francis Womack and husband Gary of Halifax; and Tommy Wayne Francis and wife Heather. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Jeremy Francis, Adam Francis, Daniel Francis, John Thomas Francis, and Mary Lee Francis, as well as her great grandson, Gage Francis.

 She is also survived by her siblings, Nancy Lowery, Shirley Snead, Robert Snead, and Roger Snead (Dianne), a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved her dearly.

 Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Walden Snead and Bessie May Moorefield Snead; her husband, Ellis Hagood Francis, Sr.; and siblings Edna Hatcher, Johnny Snead, Cecil Snead, Richard Snead, James Snead, and Lonnie Snead.

 The life of Edith Snead Francis will continue through the family she nurtured, and the countless memories shared by those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of calling her family and friend.

 A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Warfield officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

 The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
