Edna Fisher Guthrie

Edna Fisher Guthrie of Halifax, VA passed away October 14, 2022.   She was born in Halifax County, VA on June 13, 1935.  She was the daughter of the late Presley Thornton Fisher and the late Minnie Crews Fisher.  She was married to the late David F. “Buddy” Guthrie, Jr.

She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church for over 50 years where she was a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King, a member of the choir and reluctantly but dutifully served a stint as Senior Warden.  She was a Master Gardener, a volunteer at the Good Samaritan, a proud grandmother, and fortunate enough to have some of the most devoted and dearest friends imaginable.  Above all, she was a devoted wife and mother who embodied the meaning of commitment and compassion.  She and Buddy were two of the many people who made Halifax special.
