Edward "Eddie" Lemuel Smoot, Jr.

Edward Lemuel “Eddie” Smoot, Jr. of South Boston passed away on September 27, 2026 at the age of 81. He was born on January 12, 1945 to the late Edward Lemuel Smoot, Sr and the late Marie Saunders Smoot. He was married to the late Helen Jacqueline “Jackie” Porter Smoot.

He was a member of McCanless United Methodist Church. Eddie worked for JP Stevens as an electrician and for the Town of South Boston. His passing will leave a void to all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Becky S. Martin of Clover, Debbie S. King (Wayne) of Covington, LA; grandchildren, Amelie Martin of Clover, Kadyn Martin of Clover, Kristin Hudson (Scooter) of Covington, LA, Daniel Conner (Haley) of Covington, LA, Kyle Todd of Covington, LA, Kaylee Korosec of Covington, LA, Isebella King of Covington, LA; two great-grandchildren, Jace and Wyatt.

A private burial will be held at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
