Effie Powell Davis

Effie Powell Davis of Virgilina passed away July 22, 2025 at the blessed age of 93. She was born in Halifax County on June 28, 1932 to the late Claude Powell and the late Ruth Powell. She was married to the late William Samuel Davis.

She was a member of Aarons Creek Baptist Church and a longtime volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary of Midway Volunteer Fire Department. Effie enjoyed cooking and tending to her flowers. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Frances D. Charlton (Eric) of Greensboro; one grandson, Jason Allen Owen of Virgilina; one great granddaughter, MeKenna Owen of Virgilina and one sister. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Owen.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Aaron’s Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Pruitt officiating.
