Emmett Apple Tuck, Jr., a resident of Virgilina, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, June 26th at the age of 88. He was a direct descendent of John Tuck, who settled in the Virgilina area in 1761.
Mr. Tuck was a graduate of Virgilina High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served in the United States Army from 1956-1958. Mr. Tuck was a former member of the Virgilina Town Council and a retired banker at what is now Truist Bank.
He was the son of the late Emmett Apple Tuck, Sr. and the late Pauline Waller Tuck. Mr. Tuck was also preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Tuck Sechriest and Ella Tuck Frith.
Survivors include his brother, Weldon Walter Tuck, of South Boston, VA and nieces, Mary Pauline Sechriest of Chapel Hill, NC, Elizabeth Cornella of Hillsborough, NC, Margaret Ringers of Tallahassee, FL, Susan Frith of Orlando, FL, Catherine Glass of South Boston, VA, and Rebecca White of Lawrenceville, GA.
A private memorial service for the family will be held. Those wishing to give memorials are asked to consider the Virgilina Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 266, Virgilina, VA 24598 or the Virgilina Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 181, Virgilina, VA 24598.
