Eugene Lacy Allen

Eugene Lacy Allen of Richmond passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024. Born September 10, 1930 in South Boston VA, he was the son of John B. Allen and Janie Riddle Allen. He grew up in Halifax, VA, one of seven brothers. He attended Halifax County High School before serving in the Army during the Korean War where he was awarded a Purple Heart. Returning to the States he married Mary Fisher and moved to Richmond.

 Eugene worked for many years in various businesses including residential construction and insurance. He enjoyed designing and building homes and woodworking. He was an avid golfer, enjoying his time at Meadowbrook Country Club and later in life with his buddies at Glenwood Golf Club.

 Eugene is predeceased by his parents and wife Mary, his brothers John, William, James, Thomas, Sydney and Dennis. He is survived by his son Donald (Pat) and daughter Susan Nelson; five grandchildren, Kristi McCormick (Brad), Kaki Zell (Ryan), Kelsey Rawles (Jay), Jon Nelson and Marley Nelson; six great grandchildren, Grant and Emerson McCormick, Hudson Zell, James, Eliza and Livia Rawles, also his loving companion of many years Gloria Ashman, and her children Robert and Kevin.

A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Millstone in Nathalie, VA.

 In lieu of flowers consider donating to Disabled Veterans Association at www.dav.org , or do what Gene enjoyed and take a buddy golfing and enjoy the day while telling your favorite story involving him.
