Eugene Gilbert Shortt

Eugene Gilbert Shortt, 84 of Nathalie, VA passed away November 27, 2023.  He was born on June 27, 1939 to the late Gilbert Wilson Shortt and the late Cecile Waller Shortt.  He was married to Dianne Chandler Shortt who survives.

Eugene was a member of First Baptist Church of Millstone.  He was raised on a tobacco farm and his love of farming continued throughout his life.  Eugene was also a retired Sheriff of Halifax County after many years of dedicated service.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Millstone with the Rev. Barry Fero officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church’s Family Life Center.
