Florence Kell Martin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Kell Martin on January 24, 2023. Born on October 27, 1934 in Halifax County, VA to the late Thornton Kell Jr. and the late Carrie Mae Woodall Kell.  She was married to the late Lewis Henry Martin.

Florence devoted many years of her life to her work, having retired from ABB after a dedicated service. Throughout her life, Florence was known for her kind and compassionate spirit, her unwavering faith and her love of family. She was an active member of her community, and she made a positive impact on the lives of many. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was an active participant in the church community.  Florence loved her flower garden and traveling, especially with AARP trips. She had a passion for bluegrass music and loved attending festivals. She was devoted to her family and was deeply loved by her children and grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Halifax Memorials Gardens with Rev. Daniel Whitt officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday at Powell Funeral Home from 1:00 to 1:45 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Bethel Baptist Church, 4198 Bethel Rd Scottsburg, VA 24589.
