Floyd "Bob" Watson Hatcher, Jr.

Mr. Floyd “Bob” Watson Hatcher, Jr. of Dryburg, VA passed away on May 30, 2025, at home after an extended illness at the age of 72. Bob was born on May 11, 1953, to the late Floyd Hatcher Sr. and the late Annie Snead Hatcher. He was married to the late Deborah King Hatcher for 45 years.

Bob was employed at Burlington Industries until their closure and later retired at the age of 62 from Global Textiles in South Hill. He was a member of Fork Baptist Church in Scottsburg, Virginia. Mr. Hatcher was a member of The Sons of the American Legion, Post 8. In his younger years, Bob loved spending time outdoors hunting and enjoying the peace of nature. He was an avid collector of guns and knives, taking great pride in his collection. In recent years, he found joy tending to his chickens. His hobbies reflected his appreciation for tradition, craftsmanship, and a simple, meaningful way of life.

Bob is survived by one son, Floyd “Robbie” Hatcher III (Leslie) of Chatham, VA; two daughters, Laura Hatcher (fiancé Thomas Newman) of South Boston and Tori Hatcher (Diontre “Fatz” Martin), also of South Boston. One sister, Rachel Snead Lewis (Mike) of Halifax; two brothers, Donald Hatcher (Vadonna) and Gerald Hatcher, both of Dryburg. Six grandchildren – Bradley, Alyssa, Tara, Micah, Anna, and Jackson – and one great-grandson, Camden, along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. One aunt, Connie Perkins, of Halifax, VA.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 1 PM at Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Warfield officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Laura, 5043 Bold Springs Rd., South Boston, VA 24592.
