Frances Church Perkins

Mrs. Frances Church Perkins of Halifax passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at the age of 80. She was born in North Wilkesboro, NC to the late Sam and Ethel May Brazzell Church. She was married to the late James Thomas Perkins.

Frances was a member of Halifax Baptist Church, and she retired from Burlington Industries after 31 years of dedicated service. She loved tending to her garden and every moment she shared with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, J.P. Smith of Nathalie, Wanda S. Saunders (Phillip) of Halifax; stepson, James (Joyce) Perkins; three grandchildren, Amelia Clements, Phillip “P.J.” Saunders, Jr. and Jessica Perkins; two great grandchildren, Avery and Sadie Clements; host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Matthew Smith; siblings, Linda Saunders, Dorothy Tedder, Mack Church, Charles Church, and Curtis Church.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 5:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Collins officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
