Frances Jeter Barksdale Wyatt

Frances Jeter Barksdale Wyatt of South Boston passed away July 12, 2025 at the age of 92. She was born in Richmond, VA on June 27, 1933 to the late Franklin Jeter and the late Orpha Audrey Jeter. She was married to the late Herman Wyatt.

Frances was a member of Mercy Seat Presbyterian Church. She retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad as secretary after many dedicated years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and spending time with beloved family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Leslie Duffer and husband Curtis of Alton, Linda Gail Williams and husband Kendall of GA, Charles Beverly Barksdale, II of Glen Burnie, MD; seven grandchildren, Shawn Williams (Lauren) , Amber Williams, Jacob Williams (Alex), Brett Barksdale, Caleb Barksdale, Joey Duffer and Abby Duffer; eight great grandchildren and one niece, Sandra Atkins (Ronnie) of Crewe, VA.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank Jeter, Elizabeth Jeter, and Evelyn O’Neil.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Mercy Seat Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Daniel Whitt and Rev. Joyce Perez officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
