Grace T. Seat

Grace T. Seat of South Boston passed away May 29, 2024 at the blessed age of 98.  She was born in Marietta, North Carolina on June 29, 1925 to the late Burwell Lewis Temple and Katye Hill Temple.  She was married for 64 years to the late Robert Carroll Seat, Sr.

Grace attended Fairmont High School in Fairmont, NC, Catawba College in Salisbury, NC and graduated from Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina (UNC-G) with a Music Major.  After completing her education, she taught in Roxboro, NC, Mount Rainier, MD, Turbeville, VA and at Halifax County High School, retiring in 1959.  

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of South Boston as well as the South Boston Garden Club, Halifax Athletic Club, World of Sports, and the YMCA and volunteered at the Woodview.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John McCarthy and Jim Luedtke officiating. Burial to follow in Virgilina Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of Bob and Patricia Seat, 303 Merritt St., South Boston.
