Hallie Young Patterson

Hallie Young Patterson of South Boston passed away August 7, 2025 at the blessed age of 90. She was born in Halifax County on November 24, 1934 to the late Edward Rush Young and the late Elizabeth Chandler Young. She was married to the late George Robert Patterson.

Hallie was a devoted member of Oak Level Presbyterian Church. She loved to read, tending to her flower gardens, and to prepare food for her family. She was known for her homemade biscuits and tomatoes. Her passing will leave a void to all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah Patterson-Griles (Tom) of Charlotte Court House, Charles E. Patterson (Annette) of Carthage, NC, Clifton Patterson (Tammi) of Pawleys Island, SC; twelve grandchildren and a host of great and great great grandchildren.

Also surviving are her siblings, John Logan Young (Carolyn) of Halifax, Ed Young (Grace) of South Boston, Margaret Spencer of South Boston; host of nieces and nephews; stepdaughter, Ann Cook of Danville; daughter-in-law, Betty Patterson of Indiana.

Hallie was preceded in death by her son, George Wesley Patterson; one sister, Mary Sue Younger; one stepson, Robert Wayne Patterson.

A funeral service will be on August 10, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Oak Level Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ron McCracken officiating. Burial to follow in the Young Family Cemetery in Vernon Hill.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
