Harold worked as a banker in Savannah for many years. Harold joined the Air National Guard and also proudly served as a Chairman on the Savannah Park and Tree Commission, where he received the Key to the City of Savannah in recognition of his dedication and total commitment.
In his later years, Harold moved to Hilton Head Island where he met his wife, Courtney Peace Hagins, the love of his life. They have been married for 37 years. Both were members of St. Lukes Episcopal Church. Together they have two sons: Harold Vincent Hagins III (Trey) and William Peace Hagins. Trey and his wife, Carolyn, live in Jacksonville, Florida. William lives on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Harold also has two other children from a previous marriage, Jonathan Derrick Hagins of Hilton Head Island, and his daughter, Suzanne Leigh Hagins who resides in Sebastopol, California.

Harold and Courtney lived in Jupiter, Florida for several years before moving to Courtney's hometown, Halifax, Virginia. Both are members of St. John's Episcopal Church.
Having been an avid reader, Harold enjoyed audio books. He liked listening to gospel and religious songs. Harold loved to sit outside to enjoy the sunshine as often as he could. He had great appreciation for the South Boston Health and Rehab staff and made many friends with the residents. You could hear Harold greeting everyone with a pleasant "Good Morning!" even when it is in the afternoon! Harold appreciated and loved having visitors that stop by to see him. He preferred to be with people and socialize as much as possible.
Most of all, Harold loved his family enormously and always enjoyed their visits. His greatest achievements were being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
