James "Jimmy" Franklin Jennings, Sr.

Mr. James Franklin “Jimmy” Jennings Sr. of Halifax, VA passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020 at his home.  He was born in Halifax County on April 3, 1940 and was 79 years old.  He was the son of the late Bernard Joseph Jennings and Lydia Church Jennings.  He was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church. He was a retired contractor, but his true passion was his cars. Jimmy was one of the first in Halifax County to own a Corvette. He originally was a drag car racer and later raced stock cars at South Boston and Orange County Speedways.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Eldridge Cullum. Burial to follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 at Powell Funeral Home.
