James Edward Powell

Mr. James Edward Powell of Scottsburg, VA passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at his home.  He was born July 4, 1940 in Halifax County, VA and was 79 years old.  He was the son of the late Luther J. Powell and the late Martha Hackney Powell   He was of the Baptist faith and retired from the State of Virginia Department of Correction after 30 years of service.   Mr. James Edward Powell is survived by: One Daughter Lisa Powell of Lynchburg, VA Two Sisters Peggy Powell of Halifax Patsy Weaver of Rockville, MD One Brother Glen Powell of Halifax Three nephews, Steve Powell, Scott Weaver and Christopher Weaver ***Preceded in death by*** Two brothers, Mack Powell and Donnie Powell   A memorial service will be held at a later date.   Special thanks to the Sentara Halifax Regional Hospice and especially, Lisa Reeves, Tara Francis and social worker Joni Owen.   For memorials please consider the Sentara Halifax Regional Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Ave., South Boston, VA 24592.
