Jane Landrum Powell

Jane Landrum Powell of South Boston passed away on November 24, 2025 at the age of 78. She was born in Halifax County on October 24, 1947 to the late Jesse Wilson Landrum Sr. and the late Virginia Henderson Landrum. She was married 43 years to Elmo “Dean” Powell, Jr who survives.

She was of the Baptist faith. Jane enjoyed working in retail and was a dedicated employee for many years. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dean Powell; her daughter, Sherry W. Carver and her husband Steve of Roxboro; stepchildren, Bobby D. Powell of Charlottesville, Vickie Crenshaw and husband John of Farmville; her siblings, Jesse Wilson “J.W.” Landrum, Jr. and wife Brenda of South Boston, Ann Meadows and husband Gene of South Boston; three grandchildren, Justin Carter (Mykie), Jonathan Carver (Petra) and Jalen Carver; nine step-grandchildren, Jonathan, Ethan, Casey J., James, Sandy, John, Stephanie, Kimberly and Casey; five great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren; one niece, Jessica Landrum of South Boston; host of step nieces and nephews.
