Jason "Tubby" Matthew Smith

Jason Matthew “Tubby” Smith of Java, VA passed away July 6, 2019.  He was born in Halifax County, VA on January 21, 1987 and was 32 years of age. He was the son of John Presley “JP” Smith Jr. and Rebecca Perkins Smith.

He was a member of Halifax Baptist Church and River Hill Hunting Club.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had an infectious smile and never met a stranger.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Halifax Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Collins and Rev. Dr. Eldridge Cullum officiating. Burial to follow in church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, two hours prior to the service at Halifax Baptist Church and other times at the home of his father, 1144 Beulah Rd, Nathalie, VA.
