Jesse Clay Roberts

Jesse Clay Roberts, known by many as “Pawpaw”, 73, of Volens, Virginia went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 17, 2022. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1965-1967. He loved his country. He retired from Honeywell after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents Hazel Ramey and Frank Roberts, brother Jerry Roberts and grandson Ryan Phelps. He is survived by his wife of 43 years and the love of his life, Faye Roberts; sons Tony Roberts (Meredeth) and John Peak (Cindy); daughters Trina Lyles (Bobby) and Jeanna Phelps (Cal); and 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Miller (Dana) and brother Bill Roberts (Chris). Pawpaw was a faithful servant of God. He was saved in July of 1973, at age 24, and his life was radically changed by Christ. From that time forward, he was found serving in the church; cutting grass, driving the bus, serving as a trustee, treasurer, and much more. That is where his heart was, serving his Savior and loving his family. His favorite verse was “Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, Rejoice” Philippians 4:4 As our family mourns the loss of his physical body, we rejoice in knowing today he is in heaven with Jesus. Our family has so much gratitude for the Centra Hospice Team. Their heart for Pawpaw and strength they gave to the family throughout the months and days as his time grew near has truly been a gift we have cherished. Our family would also like to express our gratitude to the faithful members of Centerville Baptist Church for their faithful prayers, calls, visits, food, love and support during his entire illness. PawPaw was a faithful member of Centerville Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions to the Missions Fund at Centerville Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at Centerville Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Todd McClure officiating. A private family burial with Military Rites will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Centerville Baptist Church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service.
