Ms. Jo Patricia “Jo Pat” Murphy of Halifax, formerly of Flint Hill, Virginia, passed away on Saturday January 31st at the age of 75. Ms. Murphy was born October 13th, 1950, the daughter of Joe D and Marilyn Reece “Mike” Murphy.
Jo Pat devoted her life to her passion: horses. She was a graduate of Potomac Horse Center in Potomac Maryland. Her career was spent as co-owner and farm manager of Old Kennels in Flint Hill Virginia. She was a well-known and well-respected horse woman, engaging in point to point, dressage competitions, fox hunts, and every form of equestrian sport. After retirement, Jo Pat returned to her hometown of Halifax where she lived the rest of her days among her family and cats.
Ms. Murphy was preceded in death by both parents. She is survived by her sister Marilyn M. Murphy of News Ferry, niece Kelly C Redd (Dale) of Halifax, nephew Reece Fallen (Stephanie) of Alton, as well as great niece Rebecca Redd and great nephew J. Patrick Fallen. She also leaves behind her devoted friend T.C. Williams of Flint Hill as well as her beloved cats Ichabod, Cali, and Rosie.
A private service will be held at a later date.
