John Ramsey Hall, Jr.

John Ramsey Hall, Jr. of South Boston passed away January 31, 2024.  He was born in Person County, NC on June 8, 1932 to the late John Ramsey Hall, Sr. and the late Ethel Walker Hall Wallace Bass.  He was married to the late Frances Bailey Wilson Hall for 57 years.

He was a member of Second Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon.  He worked in the milk business all his life, from milking cows as a young boy to managing a successful branch office with Coble Dairy in Henderson, NC.   Finally retiring from Maola at the young age of 78.   He loved his family fiercely and always provided for them.  He loved NASCAR races and Jimmy Johnson was his favorite until he retired and then his favorite became Kyle Larson and the Rick Hendrick team.  In his younger years he had special memories of hunting and fishing in Georgia with his nephews Mike and John Hall.

The family would like to thank his neighbors and dear friends Chris and Shelby Gravitt for always looking after him no matter the time of day or night.  And to Marsha's Home Care, especially Doug, Doris and Tyesha for their loving care of him in his last days at home.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff McCarthy officiating. Burial to follow in Black Walnut Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home Chapel.
