Joyce Farmer

Joyce Farmer, a beloved homemaker, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 24, 1931, in Halifax County, VA to the late Filmore Moorefield and the late Elsie Snead Moorefield. She was married to the late Raymond T. Farmer.

A woman of faith, Joyce found solace within the pages of her Bible and she loved spending time outdoors and enjoying nature's beauty.  Joyce's memory will forever live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family have left an indelible mark on everyone she touched. She brought joy and comfort into the lives of so many, and her absence will be deeply felt.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Joy Saunders (Jimmy) of Java. Four Grandchildren; Jaime Saunders, Justin Saunders (Rebecca), Jane Martin (Scott), and Jessica Strickland (Travis), ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren - a testament to the abundant life she led.

Joyce also leaves behind two sisters: Ida Wilmouth of Scottsburg and Betty Cooper of Rocky Mount, VA. Additionally, she is survived by one brother, Charles Moorefield (Barbara) of Ringgold.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at County Line Baptist Church located at 13146 Chatham Rd, Java, VA 24565 with the Rev. Mike McDowell officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at County Line Baptist Church and other times at 2001 Farmer Trl., Java, VA.
