June Wilborn Moorefield

Mrs. June Wilborn Moorefield, formerly of Scottsburg, VA, died October 17, 2022 at Sunrise Senior Living in Richmond, Virginia.  Born in Halifax County, VA on May 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Kendall Wilborn and Sallie Ligon Wilborn and was married to the late Watt J. Moorefield.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in South Boston.  She was employed by J.P. Stevens and involved in the family farming operations. Her primary focus was her family being a fabulous wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her gentle soul and sweet demeaner made her loved by all.

Mrs. June Moorefield is survived by one son W. Michael Moorefield and wife Brenda Moorefield of Manakin Sabot, VA, Grandchildren Miranda Reynolds & husband Teddy of Richmond, VA, Melissa Walton & husband Joe of Richmond, Va.  Six great-grandchildren Davis and Campbell Reynolds of Richmond, VA, Blair & Nathan Saulsbury of Richmond, Maggie and Maya Walton of Richmond.  One Brother and sister- in-law James and Jeanette Wilborn of South Boston, Virginia and sister-in-law Mary Ellen Hall of Red Oak.

One Daughter, Kathryn Dale Moorefield; Two Brothers, Ernest Wilborn and Ray Wilborn; One Sister, Lillian Power; One Daughter-in-law Maryann Bretzel Moorefield.   

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 26 at 11:00 A.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service.
