Kelly Cherry

Ms. Kelly Cherry, 81, died on March 18, 2022.    She was born on December 21, 1940 in Baton Rouge, LA.  Ms. Cherry made her home in Halifax County.  Ms. Cherry was a novelist, poet, and essayist.  She was named the State Poet Laureate by Governor Bob McDonell in 2010. 

She is survived by her beloved Booker {her little boy}.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Burke Davis III.

A private service will be held at the pond at her home at a later date.  In lieu of flowers please consider the Alzheimer’s  Association in memory of Ms. Kelly Cherry.
