Kenneth Eugene Irby

Mr. Kenneth Eugene Irby of South Boston, VA passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024.  He was born in Halifax County August 3, 1935 and was 88 years old.  He was the son of the late James Clarence Irby and the late Elizabeth Irby and was married to the late Nancy Nichols Irby.  He was a member of Ash Avenue Baptist Church, charter member of the Hyco Road Ruritan Club, and proudly served his country as a veteran of the US Army National Guard.  He was a retired owner of Home Appliance in downtown South Boston. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent quality time hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew him.

 Daryl Scott Irby and wife Mary Tucker of South Boston
Three grandchildren
 Nicole Irby of Halifax
 Edward Irby of South Boston
 Watkins Irby of South Boston
Three great grandchildren
 Eli Aaron Irby Fisher, Kerrigan Reece Fisher, and Marley Jean Fisher, all of Halifax

 He was preceded in death by his siblings Frances Roller, Carroll Irby, Linwood Irby, Ray Irby, Milton Irby, and John Wayne Irby and by a grandson, Glen Landrum.  

 A special thanks to his caregivers Tyesha Burroughs, Douglas Jones, Sharon Sollars, and Jackie Pannell for their special care and assistance.

A funeral service will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Don Bryant conducting the service.  Burial will follow at the Clover Cemetery with military rites.

 The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM and other times at his home.
