LaVerne Hall Bennett

Mrs. LaVerne Hall Bennett of Scottsburg, VA, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026. She was born in Pittsylvania County on March 27, 1949, to the late Herman Belt Hall Sr. and the late Gene Hudson Hall. She was married for 55 years to the late Roger Dale Bennett Sr.

Mrs. Bennett was a faithful member of South Boston Church of God, where she taught Sunday School and served as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing and knitting, and she took great pride in her cooking. Above all, she cherished her family and loved preparing meals for them and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed giving back to the community and coached local softball for many years.

She is survived by her children, DeLayne Bennett Sons (Bo) of Oak Island, NC; Sallie Bennett Settle (Ricky) of Rixeyville, VA; and Roger Dale Bennett Jr. (Janet) of Scottsburg; her brother, H.B. Hall Jr. of South Boston; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at South Boston Church of God, with Rev. Dave Akers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at her home (1060 Welldrillers Trail Scottsburg, VA 24589). Burial will follow the service at Halifax Memorial Gardens.
