Louis Preston "Dickie" Crowder

Mr. Louis Preston "Dickie" Crowder of Halifax, VA, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at SOVAH Health Hospital in Danville, VA. He was born on January 16, 1938, in Halifax County, VA, and was 88 years old. He was the son of the late Robert Anderson Crowder and the late Elma Weatherford Crowder and was married to Bettie Jean Stephens Crowder, who survives.

He attended Mountain Road Baptist Church and retired from Halifax County Public Schools, where he worked in maintenance. Dickie was an avid golfer and storyteller who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home and at other times at his home.
