Lucille Hughes Brandon passed away peacefully at her home on May 28, 2020 surrounded by her son and daughter.

She was born June 19, 1928 in Halifax County and was the daughter of the late Woodson and Ruth Hughes.

Mrs. Brandon worked at J. P. Stevens starting a few months after graduating from Halifax High School with both her High School and Business degrees.  She worked there for 47 years in a variety of positions.

She was a faithful and dedicated member of Ash Avenue Baptist Church where she served in many ways throughout the years.  She taught Sunday School for many years and was still serving in this way until she became ill.

She will be remembered for her love of family, faith and friends. She loved watching sports particularly her favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves.

Mrs. Brandon is survived by her son John Brandon (Gretchen); her daughter Jane Revak (Tom); her grandchildren Brandon Owen (Jamie), Trevor Owen, Pamela Schwarz (Brock), Phillip Revak (Leah), Tracey Tate, Lauren Carini (Mike), Carli, Cadence; and six great-grandchildren, and a sister Eva Coates Hagood.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elwood Brandon; daughter Judy Owen; sisters Frances Ramsey, Virginia Palmer, Rebecca Hughes and Kathryn Foster and her brother William Hughes.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Mull officiating. In keeping with CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, the funeral service will be livestreamed via Powell Funeral Home’s Facebook page.

The family will receive visitors immediately following the service at the graveside.
