Luther "L.W." Wilson Henderson, Jr.

Mr. Luther Wilson “L.W.” Henderson, Jr. of Halifax passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026. He was born in Halifax County, VA on July 10, 1948 and was 77 years old. He was the son of the late Luther Wilson, Sr. and the late Beatrice Moore Henderson and was married to Donna Hardie Henderson who survives. He was a member of Oak Level Presbyterian Church where he served on the Session. He also was a lifetime Member of the Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Halifax County Rescue Squad. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout with Oak Level Boy Scout Troop #410. He was an avid hunter and also loved playing softball, bowling, and golf. He was fond of watching the NY Yankees baseball team and also followed UVA sports. He was a former Dixie Youth Baseball coach.

Survivors include: His wife of 34 years Donna Hardie Henderson. His children Kevin and Crystal Henderson of Halifax and their children Maci and Dalton Morris, Bailee Henderson, and Addilynn Henderson. Brian and Cathy Henderson and their children Brinlee Henderson and Easton Henderson. Joey and Stephanie Adams and their children Jace Adams, Wes Adams, and Annelise Adams. His sister-in-law Dale Sparks. His brothers-in-law Dan Monette and James Lewis and wife Mary Ann. His caregiver LaWanda Chandler. He was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Adams, his in-laws, John William and Merlene Hardie, Addison and Nancy Lewis, his former wife Nancy Lee Henderson, his sister-in-law Denise Monette, and an uncle, Hugh Moore and his wife Susie.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Oak Level Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ron McCraken officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. The family will receive friends at his home at all other times.
