Margie Douglas Mitchell of South Boston passed away June 8, 2026 at the age of 87. She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland to the late James Douglas and the late Elizabeth Eva Douglas. She was married sixty-two years to Billy Robert Mitchell who survives.

She was a member of Union Christian Church. Margie loved all animals, being outside taking walks in the woods and she was known as “Nana” to her beloved grandchildren. Her passing will leave a void to all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, , Jennifer Mitchell Reagan and fiancé Scott Phillips, Billy James Mitchell (Tracey) of South Boston); five grandchildren, Curtis Reagan (Jordan) of South Boston, Heather Reagan Osborne (Eric) of Halifax, Kenny Mitchell of South Boston, Jayse Phillips (Mallory) of Bailey, NC, and Ryan Phillips of Lynchburg, VA; four great-grandchildren, Karter Reagan, Breyer Reagan, River Reagan, and Elsie Phillips; one brother, Jimmy Douglas of Scotland.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harvey Spencer officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
