Marian "Biddie" Blankenship Martin

Marian Blankenship “Biddie” Martin of Halifax, VA passed away May 3, 2025 at the blessed age of 97. She was born in Halifax County on June 6, 1927 to the late William E. Blankenship and Josephine Moore Blankenship. She was married to the late Wesley Davis Martin, Sr.

She was a member of Union United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. Marian was employed by the Halifax County School System for many years as a teacher. She enjoyed tending to her garden, her flowers, visiting the library, reading mystery books and loved watching the hummingbirds and her orange cats. Biddie especially loved her family, and they will cherish her memory always.

Marian B. “Biddie” Martin is survived by her daughter, Bonita “Bonni” Martin (Keith Roark); three grandchildren, DeAnne Martin (Gary Tingen) of Halifax, Wesley Davis “Davy” Martin III (Jaime) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Toni Martin of Lynchburg. She was also survived by one niece, Sue Forloines-Lynn (Peter) of Cedar Grove, NC and a host of extended family.

She was preceded in death by her son, Wesley Davis Martin, Jr., two sisters, Audrey Forloines and Phyllis Blankenship.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Halifax Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Thad Decker officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home.
