Mark Irvin Elliott

It is with a heavy heart to announce that Mark Irvin Elliott of Virgilina, VA passed away June 2, 2025 at the age of 76. He was born in Mecklenburg, VA on March 7, 1949 to the late William Anderson Elliott and the late Virgie Wiles Elliott.

Mark found great joy in woodworking, dedicating countless hours to perfecting his craft. He could also turn his thoughts into poems and transforming them into heartfelt songs.

Mark's love for the outdoors was evident in his frequent visits to the lake, where he found solace and inspiration. Whether spending quiet moments by the water or engaging in the daily routines of farm life, he cherished his time working alongside his cows. The farm was a sanctuary for him, a place where he found the simple joys of nature while embracing the responsibilities that came with it. Family was central to Mark's life and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mark is survived by his children, Sandra Elliott Bass of Virgilina, Heather Blount Elliott of Sarasota, FL, Mark Stephen Elliott of Virgilina, and Travis Ray Blount Elliott of New York, NY; two grandchildren, Bridget Lynn Bass and Hunter Lee Bass; on great grandchild, Brooklyn Grey Glover; siblings, Pauline Blount (Tommy) of South Boston, Betty Womack (CJ) of Halifax, W.G. Elliott of Nelson, Allen Elliott of Nelson, Connie Waldrep (DD) of Nelson and Susan Harlow of Danville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his five siblings, Hazel Dunn, William (Bill) Elliott, Carson Elliott, Carolyn Hudson and Tex Elliott.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Garland officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
