Mary Lucille Elledge Hoover, age 79, of Williston, South Carolina, passed away on April 12, 2026. She was born on August 13, 1946, to the late Jessie James Lewis and the late Flora Victoria Long.

Ms. Mary was a faithful member of Crestview Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served as WMU Director (even at the State level), as well as VBS Director. She was active in Missions, serving churches in West Virginia and South Carolina. She was a member of The Pilot Club of Orangeburg, serving as President. She worked with The Lions Club, providing eye exams, glasses, etc for the gift of sight to children in local schools. She also devoted much of her time caring for the elderly as a caregiver within her church and community. She was employed by the County of Orangeburg, SC with the Dept of Probation, Pardon & Parole Services, later retiring from the Dept of Juvenile Justice. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, crafts and taking pictures of her adventures and of people she treasured.

She is survived by her two daughters, Triva Lynn Brooks (Michael Lee Smith) of Scottsburg, Virginia, and Lori Ann Brooks Hodgson; one son, Joseph Bryan Brooks of Williston, South Carolina; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Brookie Elledge Driggers and a sister-in-law, Linda Williams Elledge, both of Williston, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also proceeded in death by her stepfather, James Troy “J.T.” Elledge, and her siblings, William Edward “Billy” Elledge and Doris Elledge Bodiford all of Williston, SC.

Ms. Mary will be deeply missed by her family, friends and the communities she served so faithfully. Her smile was warming and her ability to instill confidence in others was uplifting. Her kindness, compassion and dedication to honoring her Heavenly Father will be remembered by the lives she touched.
