Mary Epps McDowell

Mrs. Mary Epps McDowell of Java, VA, passed away July 13, 2019 at Seasons at the Woodview. She was born in Halifax County VA on December 18, 1924 and was 94 years of age.  She was the daughter of the late Mose Anderson Epps and Mary Ann Thompson Epps and was married to the late Alvin Walker McDowell Jr. She was a member of County Line Baptist Church and was grandmother to many in the neighborhood. Mike McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 PM and other times at the home of John Robert and Mary Lynn Griffin, 142 Baird Court, Roxboro, NC.
